Fishing sunset.jpgManawatu's weather

Situated in one of the most southern locations of the South Pacific, New Zealand is home to clear skies and clean air.

Spring

… begins in September with a burst of leaf green buds and soft blossom flowers of pink and white (view gallery pics). Daytime temperatures can reach 25 degrees C on sun soaked, clear spring days. Spring weather is generally fine and mild with occasional showers and some morning frosts.

Summer

The skies are blue and weather is warm and dry in the summer months of December to March. Daytime temperatures can reach as high as 32 degrees C and sometimes higher on extreme days, but generally the temperature is a very comfortable mid 20's.

Summer is a great time to take a dive at one of four local aquatic centres, go fishing or seek the shade of bush walks.  The beaches of the Manawatu become a popular place for recreation, swimming, surfing and walking in summer.

Autumn (Fall)

When autumn arrives in late April you can look out from the top floors of @thehub on to a city of deciduous trees of yellow, red and russet.  Crisp mornings are followed by warm days and blue skies. Daytime temperatures often reach 25 degrees C.  Autumn is one of the most popular seasons with Manawatu people!

P9230035.JPGWinter

…arrives mid to late June. It brings snow to mountains two hours north of Palmerston North and the chance to spend weekends skiing and snowboarding. In the city early mornings are often frosty, but compared with many continental countries, our winters are very mild, with daytime average temperatures ranging between 10 degrees C and 15 degrees C.
